The painter, gallery owner and restorer Assem Alrubeiy, pseudonym Assemano, is born in Bagdad (Iraq). Assemano belongs to the prominent representatives of the modern, Iraqi present art. After a caricature over Saddam Hussein drawn by him was published, he had to leave Iraq and lives since beginning of the 90's in Germany.

Hans Joachim Dräger, author from Hamburg, writes over Assemano:
"His strong color compositions arranged by black lines show a safe stylistic idiom and a fine feeling for colors.
The intensive color surfaces, often arranged around a vertical axis, once outlines sharply, then again blurring dissolve, fascinate at first sight, hold second conditions,
because the tensionful counter and with one another the lines and surfaces permit always new viewpoints. Graphic associations are intended, but the possibility of enjoying only an abstract play is always given."
Assemano manages his own gallery in Luebeck, Große Burgstrasse 24.
